Although the day dawned cloudy this gave our volunteers at 8.30am a welcome cool start to what turned out to be a hot and sunny Festival. Fifteen staff and volunteers turned out of bed early to get the tables and chairs set up for the stalls, to clean the road, and to get the stages and tea tent set up.
By 12.30 everything was ready, food cooking, tea tent open, bands set up and our first taster yoga session started on our new Astroturf stage.
Over 900 people came during the course of the afternoon and found out more information about ways of improving their wellbeing and taking part in new clubs and courses. There was something for everyone, with the kids being particularly entertained by the Go-Kart building and Junk Modelling as well as story telling and drama workshops in our Preschool. There were pilates and line dancing sessions as well as live music from Lokandes and Whittington Park Steel Band.
A big thank you to the Big Lottery and Arsenal in the Community for funding the event and to everyone who volunteered to make it a success.
