We were delighted to welcome Councillor Kaya Comer-Schwartz, Executive Member for Community Development at Islington Council, to tour the Centre on 9th February and hear about the excellent work done by all our Services.
Jessica talked about the amazing work the Stroke Service does, supporting stroke survivors, their families and carers. She was joined by her volunteers Winnie and Mandy who helped explain to Councillor Comer-Schwartz how important the Service was to them and the people they supported.
Ed talked about the befriending work done by the Friendship Network and we heard directly from Michael, who has been a telephone befriender for many years and was able to show what an important lifeline this was to the people he supported.
Susan talked her through the new Wellbeing Service, outlining the roles of the Mental Health Champions and how we were also supporting individuals to access mental health services.
Ben, Jana and the Maternity Mentors led her through their work with refugees and newly arrived communities and pregnant women from those communities.
Chief Executive Phillip Watson spoke about our Preschool and our new borough-wide initiative, Health Exchange, before taking her on a tour of our building and its historical picture archive.
