Equalities Link Worker (Lead Project Worker)

Hours: 25 hours

Salary: NJC Salary Scale 4  SCP 13 £27,024 per annum pro rata (£18,767)

Contract: 15 months fixed term

Location: 6-9 Manor Gardens, London N7 6LA (although during Covid restrictions you will be working from home on a regular basis)

We are looking for an experienced link worker to take on this exciting new role that will design and pilot a joint programme between Manor Gardens and selected elements of universal services in Islington to achieve equality of access for all families, regardless of language, culture or abilities. The focus will be on building bridges and development of best practice with professionals working in maternity and early years services.

You will form a vital part of our Starting Well team which works with mums, dads, carers and families during the first 1,001 days of their baby’s lives and beyond, supporting mental and physical health and wellbeing, relationships and development, and the resilience, self-esteem and confidence of new families.

Much of our work is done bilingually within our local communities, providing support to those that experience barriers and difficulties in accessing support and services, in particular those from refugee and migrant communities.

This role will help us promote a better understanding of cultural barriers and ensure universal services are better informed and trained around best practice in this area.

Ideally candidates will have either a good working knowledge of Early Years services within Islington or a good understanding of communities and barriers in maternity.

Closing date for applications: 13th May (Midday)

Interviews: TBC
