Volunteer Co-ordinator

Job title: Volunteer Co-ordinator, Manor Gardens Welfare Trust

Hours: 36 hours per week

Salary: £23,895 (NJC Salary Scale 2 Point 5)

Contract: Permanent

Location: Islington, London N7 with occasional work across the Borough

Manor Gardens Welfare Trust is a health and wellbeing charity based in Islington since 1913. Our vision is to build strong communities where all people have good health, resilience and opportunity. We work with people to take action to change their lives for the better. Our services promote mental and physical health and wellbeing and increase social inclusion.

Our Health and Wellbeing Serviceshelp people manage their own health and wellbeing and maximise their independence. Our services are diverse, reflecting the communities we work with, and include bilingual support for refugees and migrants, survivors of FGM, and women needing therapeutic support, and targeted interventions for isolated people, especially the elderly and stroke survivors, and people with mental health issues. Most people have multiple issues, all of which impact on their health and wellbeing, so we provide holistic direct support to individuals alongside a programme of activities and onward referrals, working in partnership with other services to resolve issues and improve lives.

We are able to achieve our impact through the support of volunteers, who give their time in a number of ways, for example in supporting the running of our groups and activities, being a wellbeing champion, or providing peer support. Many of our volunteers have been service users themselves, and our volunteering opportunities aim to provide a pathway into employment for many, as well as an opportunity for personal development and to give back to the local community.

We are looking for a Volunteer Co-ordinator to join our organisation to co-ordinate our volunteering programme across Manor Gardens. You will lead on recruitment, administration, induction, support and feedback, and retention. This will include working closely with colleagues to ensure the recruitment of suitable volunteers to opportunities which are meaningful. You will also support volunteer development, including individual personal and professional development, and support them into work if appropriate. You will be responsible for setting up celebration and feedback events and supporting other Manor Garden activities.

We are looking for someone with experience of volunteering and/or working with volunteers, someone who enjoys working with people from a very wide range of diverse groups, and is interested in supporting people to achieve personal development and wellbeing.

Manor Gardens Welfare Trust is committed to achieving a diverse workforce that reflects the communities with which we work. We value, respect and celebrate diversity. We welcome and encourage applicants from all sections of the community regardless of their sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation or religious belief. We encourage applications from individuals with experience of volunteering alongside or instead of professional experience, and no academic background is required to apply.

Closing date for applications:  Monday 29th November, 9am

Interview: TBC
