Alima Dimonekene, who has worked for Manor Gardens carrying out our FGM support and prevention work for many years, has been honoured with an MBE in the New Year's Honours List for her work as a lifelong campaigner and activist on FGM and violence against women and girls for over 30 years in the UK and Africa.
Alima, herself a survivor, currently supports women in Newham, providing a welcoming and open approach for women to find out more about support on offer for survivors of FGM from across the world. She refers people to our NHS FGM clinics and our in-house counsellor for one-to-one and group therapeutic support. Alima also does a lot of community work and campaigning nationally.
Her campaigning work has played a huge part in changing policy and legislation in the UK to keep more women and girls safe from harm.
