Despite a shortage of elves this year we have managed to pack and distribute are largest number of hampers ever - 157 - to local individuals and families. Funded by London Borough of Islington's Local Initiative Fund we were backed by councillors in all our local wards to make this huge undertaking possible.
Staff from across all of our services put forward clients to receive hampers and they were carefully tailored to suit individual needs, preferences and dietary requirements. Goodies included pasta, rice and beans as well as soup, fruit and stollen or mince pies.
Elves Milena, Jamie and Adele were responsible for drawing up the large shopping list, arranging deliveries, recruiting volunteer drivers and telling each client when their hamper would arrive. And alongside these logistics they had to pack every bag as illness hit the team at just the wrong moment.
We were given extra funds by the local councillors for the Andover Estate to provide their vulnerable residents with 50 bumper hampers and we were also able to support some parents at Hornsey Road Children's Centre.
We wish all of our clients a very happy festive season and a good (better?) new year.
