Community meal sparks discussions

25 Sep 2021

Our third community meal took place on Thursday 23rd September at the newly converted Billiard Factory on Holloway Road, attended by over 60 local people.

The aim of the meal was to encourage discussion about what local people want from their local high streets, what they feel is lacking at the moment and how improvements could help foster more of a community feel to the area.

Run by Manor Gardens in partnership with Islington Council and with funding from GLA under their High Streets for All Challenge, the event brought together people from all local communities to discuss these important topics and to help us create a shared vision of a revitalised Nag's Head Town Centre.

This project comes as the natural progression of the food distribution work we undertook during lockdown, our pop-up food co-op which runs every Wednesday and our work with the council and local partners on the Islington Food Partnership to end food poverty in the borough.

Our vision is to provide a community food hub with activity space, where people can also find safe spaces to discuss their needs and find support, whilst enjoying good food and shopping sustainably.
