Manor Gardens launches appeal

17 Apr 2020

Manor Gardens has launched an appeal today to support us to adapt our service models to support more people during the current crisis and to provide basic supplies to people in need.

Donate here.

We have responded swiftly to the changing needs of the vulnerable people we work with by moving all of our client-facing work to telephone and online support. On top of this we have set up an emergency food distribution hub to bring vital food supplies bought in bulk to local people, delivered to their door by volunteer drivers. This appeal will support the purchase and distribution of food and therapeutic support for vulnerable people.

How the funding will be spent

We don't know how long this emergency will affect people's lives. We need to raise £50,000 to ensure we can purchase food for vulnerable people for the foreseeable future and provide online counselling. We need £1,500 a week to buy basic supplies for 100 families We need £500 a week to pay for the extra resources for making outgoing welfare check calls. £500 a week will provide 10 online therapeutic groups or one-to-one sessions a week.

How this will benefit the community

We support people in North London who are vulnerable for many reasons including long-term conditions, mental ill health, isolation and poverty. Due to Covid-19 more people than ever are slipping into this group and we need more resources to help everyone who needs it. Our timely interventions, both practical and emotional, will prevent people's problems escalating and will enable them to continue to remain part of our community, improve their wellbeing and support their own families.
