Starting Well

Starting Well delivers bilingual and culturally-tailored advocacy and support for migrant and refugee mothers and children and builds resilient family units. It addresses barriers to statutory services for women and children from refugee and minoritised backgrounds, including lack of understanding of the UK system, language and cultural barriers, lack of social support networks and trauma linked to experiences of migration. The service is delivered in 12 community languages.

Living Well

Our Living Well services help people manage their own health and wellbeing and maximise their independence. Our services are diverse, reflecting the communities we work with, and include bilingual support and targeted interventions. Most of the people we help have multiple issues, all of which impact on their health and wellbeing. We provide direct holistic support to individuals alongside a programme of activities and onward referrals, working in partnership with other services to resolve issues and improve lives.

Youth Work 

Our youth provision, based on the Andover estate in Islington, offers a safe and accessible platform to young people aged 11 – 16 facing complex intersectional challenges. We empower young people through access to creative activities, training and education, access to recreational activities and provision of healthy meals. Our service is youth led and provides a platform for our young people to creatively express their lived experience and influence change within their community around societal issues that matter to them.

Cultural Competency

Our team speaks over 12 local languages and we host specialist interventions including bilingual health advocacy, the only specialist service for FGM survivors in the UK and peer-led mental health support.
